The first experimental film cameras go back to Oskar Barnack. Very early on, Leitz was very interested in the development of movie cameras. Since the early 1930s the company manufactured lenses for movie cameras with various mounts. Only in 1960 did Leitz started to produce movie cameras for 8 mm film in series. The offered collection demonstrates the development of the last movie camera, the Leicina Special, for Super 8 mm film.

Die ersten Versuche mit Filmkameras gehen bereits auf Oskar Barnack zurück. Leitz interessierte sich bereits sehr früh für den gesamten Filmprozess. Seit den frühen 1930er Jahren fertigte die Firma Objektive für Filmkameras mit diversen Anschlüssen an. Erst 1960 jedoch fing man selbst damit an, Filmkameras für 8 mm Film in Serie zu produzieren. Die angebotene Sammlung zeigt die Entwicklung der letzten Kamera, der Leicina Special für Super 8 mm Film.
