1. JAMBHALA (KUBERA)

Tibet, 16th-17th century.
Bronze with fragments of cold gilding, and blue and red pigments on the head of Jambhala. Cast in a manner described by Ulrich von Schroeder (p-461-493) as "non-gilt schools".
Jambhala crown and seated with Nakula in his left hand. Lotus-base shows obvious similarities to von Schroeders No 136A, No 136B, No 136C and 136F (p 484-485) which he dates to the 16th century. Height 19 cm (7,5"). Weight 1,44 kg.
Not sealed, minor dents, interior with later tiny scratches, surface wear as expected on a bronze of this age.
Provenance: Probably Nils Nessim Collection, Stockholm, the 1950:s.
