31. Summitar * 2/5cm in Compur-Shutter

Ultra-rare prototype lens in very good original condition, complete with original release arm and matching black dial Leica IIIf body no. 537878.

Both Summitar * as well as Compur Summicron lenses are among the great rarities of Leica lenses from the 1950s. Most unusual is the combination of both, which actually existed: only six specimens of the Summitar * were completed as central-shutter lenses and so are not only forerunners of the Summicron, but prototypes of the later Compur-Summicron (see lot 032) as well. The Summitar * with central shutter mount is almost impossible to find. Consecutive serial number to previous lot.

Sowohl das Summitar * als auch das Compur-Summicron zählen zu den großen Raritäten der Leica Objektive aus den 1950er Jahren. Äußerst ungewöhnlich ist die Kombination von beidem, die tatsächlich existierte: Nur sechs Exemplare des Summitar * wurden in einer Fassung mit eingebautem Zentralverschluss geliefert und sind somit nicht nur Summicron-Vorläufer, sondern gleichzeitig auch Prototypen des Compur-Summicron (siehe Los 032). Das Summitar * mit Zentralverschluss ist praktisch nicht zu finden.
