an extremely rare high-speed telephoto lens, from a small batch of only 14 lenses issued for testing purposes in 1949 (all later production lenses were 12.5cm), designed to work with Visoflex I, also usable on Visoflex II with the OUBIO extension tube, here in a set with matching near-mint hood engraved with 'Hektor 12cm, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, Germany' and 12cm prototype frame finder. Also included in this lot is a Visoflex I with 45° finder and a Leica IIc no.433633.
The 12cm Hektor is one of the rarest Leica lenses, and this is one of the best examples known to exist.
