Under its new brand ‘0.95’, Leica Camera AG presented in 2016 a collection of premium accessories that unite extraordinary quality and iconic product design. The name 0.95 stands – as an homage to the Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH., the world’s fastest aspherical lens. A special limited edition of 95 Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. lenses was also be released to celebrate the new 0.95 brand. The lenses boast the same exceptional performance features of the standard production model but are distinguished by their unique design. In contrast to the standard production models, the special-edition lenses feature an engraved white-filled ‘0.95’ denoting the maximum aperture, while all other engravings are picked out in a glossy dark grey to merge discreetly into the matt-black anodised finish. The design features unique to the lens include distinctive knurling and gloss-finished elements on the lens barrel and the front lens cap. This is the first time that a glossy anodised finish has been employed as a design element; such a finish has previously only been used for sliding surfaces inside a lens. The offered example is the 6th of 6 prototype lenses made for evaluation, it is in mint, unused condition, comes with matching box and all accessories. Also included in the lot is unused special 0.95 edition Dupont Ballpoint pen.
