395. GOMZ Sport GOI Leningrad 2.5/52mm prototype

With over 20.000 cameras produced, the Sport was a great commercial success of the pre-war Soviet camera industry. Around 1940 - 1941 GOMZ engineers in cooperation with GOI Leningrad made an effort to produce an upgraded version of the camera with a faster lens. The offered prototype camera is based on a late version Sport, with no name or serial number engraved. The lens is a prototype GOI Leningrad Industar 2.5/52mm no.3002. This is the only example of this special lens we have seen, there is also no information about this unique Jupiter in literature. Despite the fact, that the Sport camera is equipped with a bayonet lens mount, the offered lens is the only known example of another standard lens for the Sport camera, except for the usual 3.5/5cm.
