an interesting Leica IIIa, owned and used by the British military, engraved on the top plate with inventory number 'PATT 8665', delivered on 25.05.1936 to London, with matching, unnumbered Elmar 3.5/50mm with inventory number PATT8668 on the barrel, including a leather case stamped 'HMS EXETER' - the name of the second and last York-class heavy cruiser built for the Royal Navy during the late 1920s
